ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
The Water and Sewer Asset Engineer provides professional, technical and administrative services to the Water and Sewer Group and assists and supports the implementation of asset management principles within the team and will work closely with Council’s Infrastructure Services Group to ensure consistency of asset management across Council.
The Water and Sewer Asset Engineer is responsible for the development and delivery of asset management activities, including development of asset management plans and capital works programs, relating to water and sewer and is also responsible for undertaking intensive analysis of infrastructure data to provide sound information for strategy and planning purposes.
This position works within the Water and Sewer Strategy and Compliance Team. In this position you will:
- Be responsible for the medium to long term asset planning necessary to enable effective and efficient water and sewer service delivery for all customers
- Ensure Council and its customers meet or exceeds statutory and other requirements.
- Provide considerable professional technical expertise and experience optimising asset operations and maintenance of Council’s water and sewer network and treatment assets
- Analyse key data to drive efficiency and reliability improvements, with a focus on the planning and delivery of capital works projects to optimise the water and sewer assets, ensure quality, safety, efficiency and costs-effectiveness in delivering water and sewer services to the general public and Council’s customers.
In addition to your relevant tertiary qualification (Civil or other Engineering), you will be able to demonstrate:
- Extensive asset management experience and a comprehensive knowledge of local government infrastructure asset management processes, procedures and practices including financial management of assets;
- Excellent written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to write concise plans and reports, and to prepare appropriate external correspondence;
- Experience with the development of capital work programs and project prioritisation;
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships;
- Proficient in the use of Word, Excel, GIS, database programs and project management packages; and
- Demonstrated understanding of infrastructure maintenance and construction works.
It would be advantageous to demonstrate your knowledge of legislation and engineering standards used in infrastructure asset management, and particularly management of water and sewer assets.
This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 14 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a TRP between $142,374 - $157,696 per annum including base salary, vehicle and civil liability allowances and superannuation.
