The Local Government Association of the Northern Territory (LGANT) is a small, vibrant, and cohesive team of dedicated people who form the peak representative body which delivers services to and provides a ‘voice’ for the 16 local governing bodies in the Northern Territory. LGANT is seeking an Executive Officer to join our small high performing team.
Position Objective:
The Executive Officer will provide strong organisational, coordination and communication support to the CEO and LGANT team to enable the delivery of strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
As an experienced coordinator, the Executive Officer will be an administration professional who has a ‘can do; attitude, is a self-starter, and a tech-savvy 'life organiser' adept at working with limited direction. The Executive Officer will be a pivotal point of coordination, adeptly bringing order, efficiency, and innovation to every aspect of the office setup and ongoing management. Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities in managing the CEO’s office include, but are not limited to:
- managing generic mailboxes and the CEO's calendar effectively
- coordinating staff and Board travel
- providing a secretariat service to the LGANT Board including the coordination of agendas and papers and drafting minutes (for Board meetings, Annual and General Meetings)
- coordinating the annual LGANT Conference and Awards
- coordinating LGANT representation on various external committees
- registering and drafting correspondence
- undertaking relevant research and analysis
- coordinating contact/distribution lists, media releases, monthly newsletters, website content, and design of key documents such as templates and the Annual Report
The EO will also be responsible for upskilling LGANT’s Business Trainee in aspects of this role.
Selection Criteria:
The following skills, experience and qualifications are highly desirable:
- Relevant post-secondary qualification or demonstrated experience in business administration.
- Experience in providing secretariat services to boards or committees.
- Strong attention to detail and proven ability to perform under pressure and prioritise multiple tasks and requests at short notice.
- Experience working effectively autonomously and also as part of a close-knit team.
- Demonstrate curiosity, a can-do and outcomes focused attitude.
- Ability to learn quickly, work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to maintain discretion and neutrality.
- Experience in design software (eg. Canva) and digital marketing tools (eg. Mailchimp).
- Experience in, or knowledge of, how local government operates in the Northern Territory.
- An Australian citizen or have a current, relevant visa to work in Australia.
