About the role

A permanent full-time opportunity has arisen for a Relief Driver to join our Waste Services team located at the Alexandria Integrated Facility. 

As the Relief Driver, you will collaborate with your team to carry out waste collection duties of domestic waste and will be required to act as the Waste Team Leader Driver when required. 

This position commences at 5:00am from Monday to Friday with the weekend overtime work also available. You will be based at our purpose built integrated facility in Alexandria and employed under Council's Waste Services Enterprise Agreement.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate previous truck driving experience with an outstanding driving record and posses strong leadership skills in order successfully act up in the Team Leader position.  

Essential Criteria

  • Currently hold a valid HR Drivers Licence with an outstanding driving record.
  • Physical ability to perform general labouring duties as outlined in section 7 of the Position Description.
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Available to work varied hours including early starts.
  • Demonstrated awareness of WHS requirements and a willingness to be trained in Council’s safety procedures.
  • At least two years’ of truck driving experience with an outstanding driving record.
  • Proven reliability and commitment to Council’s Values.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a Waste Collection team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability in operating rear loading garbage truck.
  • Experience in Local Government operations.
