Are you a visionary and versatile leader ready to drive the future success of a vibrant regional community?
Warrumbungle Shire Council invites applications for the position of General Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality services, foster community engagement, and champion continuous improvement across our diverse organisation.
Located on the picturesque northwestern slopes and plains of New South Wales, the Warrumbungle Shire spans 12,380 square kilometres and is home to approximately 9,225 residents. Our LGA encompasses the charming towns of Baradine, Binnaway, Coolah, Coonabarabran, Dunedoo, and Mendooran, with Coonabarabran serving as the regional hub for retail, agriculture, and business services.
The region offers a rich tapestry of cultural, sporting, and recreational activities, complemented by excellent schools, health services, and natural attractions. Our economy thrives on agriculture, which is the largest employer, alongside a growing tourism industry that capitalises on our stunning landscapes, clear night skies, and strategic location between Melbourne and Brisbane.

Your role involves providing strategic advice and executive support to guide policy development and implementation, leading the organisation with a focus on community engagement, strategic management, and a performance-driven culture. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with legislation and policies, managing risks, delivering on strategic and operational plans, and building a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality services. You will also foster a values-based organisational culture aligned with the Council’s vision and community priorities.
We seek a dynamic and progressive leader with proven senior leadership experience, ideally within local government or a similar environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, alongside a track record of fostering collaboration, community engagement, and organisational excellence.
