Temporary Full Time Position
Salary: $109,055 p.a. to $121,609 p.a. plus superannuation, a 9 day fortnight and flexible working arrangement provisions.
Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.
About the role
This role is a 12 month temporary position to act as maternity leave coverage.
We are looking for an experienced Financial Accountant to be part of a dynamic team which supports the organisation by ensuring that Council’s financial, investment and fixed asset records are accurately recorded and efficiently managed to ensure that the financial and statutory reporting obligations of Council are met in accordance with appropriate deadlines and legislation.
Council’s infrastructure asset base is significant with a value of approximately $2.7b. The position is responsible for all technical accounting in respect of the fixed asset register including the capitalisation of large infrastructure assets.
The role also supports staff involved in Fixed Asset related activities and is vital in carrying out Treasury Operation to maximise returns from Council’s $300M investment portfolio.
About you
We require an enthusiastic financial accountant with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent organisational skills are essential as well as the ability to multitask and work to conflicting deadlines. This role is part of a diverse and dynamic team of professionals reporting to a manager with both public and private accounting experience.
This role would suit either a first mover from chartered or a candidate with commercial experience.
The successful candidate is required to be a member of CPA Australia or the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia or overseas equivalent with a commitment to Continuing Professional Development.
