This position is classified as a PACS Band 5 ($76,199 - $83,003) under the City of Kwinana’s structured remuneration system.

What’s On Offer
This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic Assistant Building Surveyor to join our Building Services team. Reporting to the Coordinator Building Services, the successful candidate will work as an active member of the Building Services team and assist with performing building control duties as directed. You will be responsible for the processing of all building applications, engaging with rate payers and builders seeking advice and approvals, as well as regular liaison with the building industry to facilitate a professional relationship with industry.
The City is offering the opportunity for you to expand your knowledge and experience within the built environment. The City performs inspections of all classifications of buildings and provides full in-house certification services.

What You’ll Need
To make an impact in this role, the successful candidate will have:
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and ability to review technical papers, summarise their contents and communicate to a range of stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of building regulations, codes, standards and relevant Local laws.
- Working knowledge of building construction (practical, legal and technical).
- Working knowledge of Building Services administrative procedures.
- Current ‘C’ class drivers licence.
- (Desirable) Administration experience within the Building Industry.
- (Desirable) Progress toward a recognised building industry qualification appropriate under the Building Services (Registration) Act 2011, Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 or equivalent.
