Title: Cadet Building Surveyor, Trainee - Full-time Role, 35 hours per week (12 - 24 month contract)
Salary Range: $51,845.04 to $62,358.12 per annum + super (subject to skills and experience)

Northern Beaches Council in partnership with the NSW Government have an exciting opportunity for a Cadet Building Surveyor to join the team.
Reporting to the Manager Building Control, the cadetship offers the chance to gain valuable on-the-job experience while undertaking your studies in building surveying. The successful candidate will assist in the assessment of construction certificates, complying development certificates and Building Information Certificates in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Building Code of Australia, and other relevant legislation.
The successful candidate must demonstrate their competency for the position by meeting the following essential criteria:
• Enrolled in second or final year of study in a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent.
• Class C Drivers Licence.
• Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Possess administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and skills in Microsoft Office
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
Our opportunity :
The key focus areas of this role include:
1) To provide support and assistance in the assessment of construction certificate applications, occupation certificate applications, complying development certificate applications, and other applications in accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and other relevant legislation, ensuring completion of work to specified standards.
2) To assist with critical stage building inspections as required for the purpose of issuing certifications as required by the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and Local Government Act 1993 under supervision.
3) To support the Fire Safety program including investigating complaints and drafting Notices and Orders, ensuring compliance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
4) To respond to and provide advice for public enquiries, ensuring the provision of accurate information and the timely and effective resolution of issues.
5) To provide customer service and effective communication to customers and external bodies to deliver a high professional standard.
