About the opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Business Partner to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. 

Working in a high performing Finance team, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles and concepts, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to analyse and communicate key financial and non-financial data to a range of stakeholders is vital to this role. The role requires a self-starter who can assist the Management Accountant Coordinator with the operation of the annual and long term budgets, together with the production of monthly budget reports and the quarterly review of Council's budget.

You will be required to partner with managers throughout the organisation to guide and advise them on the annual budget process and the long term financial sustainability of Council's services. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • A degree in Accounting  
  • Previous budget experience in a large complex organisation
  • Highly developed analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft excel and word and financial software packages
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Solid experience in a related field
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • Local government experience
  • Experience using TechnologyOne software systems
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,092.02 per week
  • 35-hour working week 
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
