The Opportunity
As a Technical Services Officer in the City of Perth, you will be responsible for maintaining operational library hardware and software, including the library's printing, copying and scanning services, mobile duress system, audio-visual equipment, and all public computers within the library. The role supports the Team Leader Technical Services in troubleshooting the integrated library management system and the library's digital resources. The position assists with training library staff in using online resources and technology, answers patron queries, and contributes to digital literacy programs for the public.
Reporting to the Technical Services Team Leader within our City Culture team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the library's information technology hardware, such as RFID equipment, public computers, digital signage, the mobile duress system, and library audio-visual equipment;
- Managing the functionality and upkeep of library-specific software, including single-state systems and antivirus programs;
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues encountered by library patrons with printing, scanning, and copying services; and
- Providing training and support to library staff on the use of corporate and library-specific hardware and software through structured information sessions and ad hoc training as needed.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Minimum of one year demonstrated experience in troubleshooting technical issues in a library or similar public setting with a combination of corporate and public networks;
- Experience working with Windows 10, Windows 11, Office 365, duress tag systems and public use multi-functional devices;
- Ability to exercise initiative and problem-solving skills in order to resolve technical issues in a Library or IT environment; and
- Demonstrated understanding of RFID technology and library authentication methods.
