Your new job
This role will be responsible for assessment of Development Applications and fulfillment of general planning duties. You will provide technical planning expertise and advice to the Manager Statutory Planning, other staff
and the public on land use planning.
Key accountabilities:
- To provide technical planning expertise and advice to the Manager Statutory Planning, other staff
and the public on land use planning - To minimise application processing times whist ensuring quality planning outcomes consistent with
legislative requirements and Council’s planning policies - To provide excellence in customer service through the efficient delivery of clear and accurate advice
at the front counter, in pre-development application discussions and general correspondence - Represent Council at meetings and meet with members of the public to effectively guide
development within the region and achieve good quality planning outcomes - The timely response to correspondence as it relates to planning issues
- To undertake research, data collection and analysis for the preparation of statutory and non-statutory
planning instruments and policies - The communication and delivery of Councils land use related plans and policies to the Council and
community as required - To assist in carrying out Council’s Development Compliance functions
- Any other accountabilities or duties as directed by the Manager Statutory Planning/Director which are
within the employee’s skill, competence and training - To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the
Workplace Environment Statement
Selection criteria:
- Tertiary planning qualifications or tertiary qualification in an affiliated field to planning or in the
process of obtaining the qualification - Class C Drivers Licence
- Good communication skills (written & verbal)
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships within Council and in general community
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist advice on planning matters
- Demonstrated time management skills to coordinate a number of consecutive projects and meet
deadlines - Moderate strategic perspective to research, review, draft, develop and ability to implement strategic
studies, Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans, policies and codes - Moderate skills to assess Development Applications
- Motivation to undertake continued professional development to ensure that technical skills are up to
date - Knowledge of workplace health and safety responsibilities and a commitment to attending relevant
WHS training
The salary range being offered for this temporary full-time position is $3,497- $3,936 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $90,937-$102,349 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience). This role is to cover a maternity leave for up to 12 months duration commencing late March 2025.
