About the role
The role of our Crew Member (Waste Operations) has responsibility for the operation of Central Coast Council's waste facilities and meets Council's social, economic and environmental objectives by actioning required waste services, landfill operations and the maintenance of all assets in a cost effective and efficient manner.
Working as a part of a professional team, you will undertake a variety of duties including general labouring tasks required to maintain landfill infrastructure and other duties as directed by your Crew Leader.
In addition to general labouring duties, the Crew Member will act as a relief plant operator and gatehouse attendant when required.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A valid Construction General Induction Card - NSW WorkCover or equivalent.
- A minimum Medium Rigid (MR) Drivers Licence with a commitment to upgrade to a HR licence within a specified time period.
- A current Bonded Asbestos Removal Certificate or equivalent or willingness to obtain within a specified time.
- A current Safework Traffic Controller (TCR) Licence or willingness to obtain within a specified time.
- A current Confined Space Certificate or willingness to obtain within a specified time.
- A proof of competency to operate a loader or willingness to obtain within a specified time.
- Experience in general outdoor labouring duties.
- Knowledge of landfill operations and procedures is desirable.

Other important information
- The salary range for this position ranges between $57K to $68K (dependent on skills and experience) plus 11.5% superannuation plus allowances
- We have a permanent full-time role available.
- This role will be able to access a 9 day fortnight
- This role is located at the Buttonderry Waste Management Facility
- Successful candidates will be required to have vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus.
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake and pass a Confined Spaces medical.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
