Working as part of the Strategic Planning and Sustainability team, you will provide ongoing leadership and support to the Sustainability and Environmental staff and supervise daily activities and operations. You will manage specific environmental planning projects, including the preparation of environmental management plans, and the preparation and implementation of environmental strategies and policies within the City of Rockingham.

In this role, you will be providing specialist advice on the protection, rehabilitation, enhancement and management of the City’s natural environment. You will investigate and analyse very complex environmental based matters, and devise and evaluate alternative solutions and recommendations.

Your extensive practical experience in sustainability development, environmental science, environmental management and/or related fields will compliment your ability to fulfil this exciting role. You have well developed communication skills (both written and verbal), and possess skills and knowledge on bushland and wetland conservation principles, project management and strategy development, particularly in a local government setting. You possess excellent leadership and inter-personal skills, and you lead by example and understand the importance of positive team dynamics and effective management.

It is essential that you possess a degree in Environmental Science or another related field. A Post Graduate qualification in sustainability and environment management is desirable. A current and valid ‘C’ class driver’s licence is also a requirement of this position.

 

To be considered for this role, you must address the following selection criteria as part of your online application:

  1. Extensive practical experience in sustainable development, environmental science, environmental management and/or other related fields.
  2. Significant experience in dealing with issues of sustainability and environmental matters in the planning process.
  3. Significant experience in supervising professional and technical staff.
  4. Detailed knowledge of Federal, State and Local Government strategies, policies and practices relating to sustainability, sustainable development and the environment.
  5. Detailed knowledge of State of Environment Reporting, Natural Resource Management, Cities for Climate Protection and other relevant sustainability and environmental initiatives.

 

This position has a gross salary range of $111,935 to $119,348 per annum, dependent on skills and experience.  The City also offers:

  • 5% superannuation with the option to co-contribute up to a further 5%
  • A variety of health and wellbeing programmes including a physical health reimbursement subsidy payments of up to $150 per annum, free flu vaccinations, free skin cancer checks, mental health programs and Employee Assistance Provider (EAP) services
