Team Leader – Nightshift Waste and Street Operations

The Opportunity
As a Nightshift Team Leader for the Waste and Street Cleaning Operations in the City of Perth, you will provide administrative and supervisory support for night shift sanitation and street cleaning across the City. This will primarily include coordinating staff and contractors to ensure effective as well as efficient operations whilst preparing, monitoring and updating work programs and schedules.
Reporting to the Nightshift Supervisor within our Waste and Street Cleaning team, your responsibilities would primarily include:
- Plan and schedule the allocation of resources and assist in the effective supervision of the collection and disposal of all forms of refuse and litter, as well as the cleaning of streets and public areas under the City’s control;
- Ensure that all staff are informed of their role accountabilities and performance standards, managing their performance through effective two-way communication, monitoring, evaluation and the provision of appropriate feedback and development opportunities as required;
- Operate a range of street cleaning vehicles, including but not limited to:
- Hino Ranger Pro Series 605/or similar.
- Compact Sweeper (Footpath) Various models.
- Rosmech Road Sweeper / Bucher / or similar.
- Street cleaning machines.
- Water truck.
- Drive and operate a variety of waste and street cleaning plant and equipment.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience autonomously leading and training a small to medium sized operational team, including an ability to programme works, solve operational problems and resolve interpersonal conflicts;
- Extensive experience in and knowledge of street cleaning and waste management practices, plant and vehicles;
- Experience with in-vehicle waste/fleet management software for accurate recording and job logs; and
- Demonstrated working knowledge of work health & safety issues, in terms of personal responsibility, public safety and chemical usage in public.

Eligibility
To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:
- A right to work in Australia (e.g. a birth certificate, current passport or current visa);
- Fitness for work via a pre-employment medical;
- A current ‘C’ class Australian drivers licence; and
- A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
