Did you recently completed High School and are seeking an exciting opportunity to kickstart your professional career in the Local Government? Here at Mid-Western Regional Council we are seeking a Cadet Accountant who is passionate and driven to succeed in this role.
As the Mid-Western Region continues to grow and prosper at a steady rate, Council now employs over 500 staff members and has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Cadet Accountant. This position is for a high school student who has completed Year 12 or first-year
university students who have an interest in business and accounting. You will assist Council’s Finance division in a wide range of finance and
accounting tasks. This role will enable the right person to gain valuable experience in Local Government
finance and develop practical accounting skills.
Under the guidance and supervision of Council staff, the Cadet will develop the skills, knowledge and experience associated with accounting activities within Mid-Western Regional Council. The position will evolve into that of a professional Accountant, thus providing an important service to Council and the community.
During the course of employment, the successful applicant is to enrol in and satisfactorily complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting
and/or other equivalent relevant tertiary qualification with a major in Accounting.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Higher School Certificate (HSC) completion
- General computer literacy including basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and email
- Good interpersonal skills, and written and verbal communication skills
- Highly motivated and willingness to learn
- Willingness and capacity to enroll and obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Accounting
and/or other equivalent relevant tertiary qualification with a major in Accounting, by distance
education, part-time (Some subjects may have on-campus workshops where travel to the
university will be required).
The salary range being offered for this full-time position is $1840.20- $2389.20 gross per fortnight plus superannuation which equates to an annual salary of $47845.20- $62119.20 gross plus superannuation (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience). You will also benefit of 1 Rostered Day Off every month.
