About the role
Central Coast Council Libraries provide a diverse range of services and resources to the Central Coast Community as well as playing a key role in fostering community connection. The role of Library Assistant is responsible for providing efficient and customer friendly library services to library users including circulation and library maintenance duties.
We are looking for a team player who is also a customer focused individual and is passionate about providing exceptional services to our community. Your enthusiasm for innovative solutions and independent thinking are also critical for the delivery of effective library and Council services to the community.
This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community.
Key Duties
- Perform the duties required within the branch such as loans, returns, renewals, reservations, membership enquiries and accurate shelving
- Provide technological assistance to customers and members of the community
- Prepare and deliver reader advisory and children's programs that support reading and literacy
- Provide effective directional and basic reference advice and information and select appropriate borrowing materials for housebound patrons
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current Working with Children Check
- Demonstrated solid contemporary experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development

Other important information
- The salary range for this position ranges between $57.1k to $68.6k pa (dependent on skills and experience) plus 11.5% superannuation
- We have a permanent full-time role available.
- This role will be able to access a 19 day month, working 140 hours over a 4 week period.
- This role is located at the Toukley Library.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
