WHS Officer
- Salary $79,014.00 to $91,655.72 p/a + super
- Permanent full time position – 35 hours per week

About Ku-ring-gai Council
Located 16 km’s north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales’ most attractive natural environments.
About the role
Reporting to the Team Leader Risk Advisory, you will work alongside the WHS Advisor, facilitating the implementation of Work Health and Safety strategies and initiatives across the organisation. This will involve providing advice and support to managers and employees, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, and promoting a positive safety culture throughout Council.
Duties will include, but are not limited to
- Work collaboratively with Council's managers and supervisors to continue the development of the safety culture within the organisation
- Undertake accident and near-miss investigations, WHS audits, and worksite assessments
- Assist managers and supervisors with the review and document control for risk assessments
- Assist in the implementation of risk identification and control strategies for specific activities
- Prepare WHS reports and statistics, and provide recommendations for improvement
- Assist in the implementation of Council’s mandatory WHS training program
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety with minimum one year relevant experience in the field of WHS
- WHS general construction induction White Card
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience in Return to Work is desirable but not essential
A candidate without the required qualification may still be considered, provided they are willing to undertake the training to obtain it within twelve months of employment.
