ASSETS ACCOUNTANT

What we are
looking for
As part of this team you will preferably be experienced with accounting for infrastructure or end of year financial statement preparation and quick to learn a new finance system.
This is an
exciting opportunity to work with an ever-changing dynamic team within the Mid-Western Regional Council.
This role is a permanent full time role based on site in Mudgee with options of flexible working
arrangements including working from home.
The salary range
being offered for this position is $3,670.20 - $4,130.30 per fortnight plus superannuation, which equates to a salary of $95425-$107387 per annum plus superannuation.
Key
Accountabilities
- Asset
accounting including reporting, recognition, disposal, depreciation and re-evaluation,
in an accurate and timely manner - Administration
and development of Council’s financial asset management system including the
integration of financial asset management systems with other asset systems
(operational) and corporate applications - Work
closely with Council’s Asset Managers and the Asset System Coordinator to
develop and implement processes for capturing and reporting on relevant asset
data - To
prepare information for Council’s annual financial reports and other external
reports as necessary - To
provide quality accounting support to the organisation, undertaking other
accounting tasks as required by the Senior Accountants -
To actively promote and demonstrate the core
values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement
Position selection criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in an accounting or commerce field;
- Substantial experience in accounting roles in mid to large organisations;
- Substantial experience in the use of computerised Financial Information Systems;
- Class C drivers licence;
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills;
- Highly developed computing skills, with particular emphasis on Excel;
- Ability to gather and analyse large volumes of data, with superior attention to detail;
- Understanding of Australian Accounting Standards; and ability to interpret and apply legislative
requirements to workplace processes; - Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills;
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) responsibilities and a commitment to attending
relevant WHS training.
