Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic individual eager to kickstart your career in Strategic Planning? We have an exciting opportunity for a graduate with a passion for planning. As a key player in our dedicated team, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of the beautiful North Sydney area.

The role 

This role provides an opportunity for an enthusiastic planner that has recently completed, or close to completing, their undergraduate studies to gain valuable experience in strategic and statutory planning, placemaking and urban design.

You will be part of the Strategic Planning team which guides jobs and housing growth via planning instruments, place-based planning studies, heritage management and other planning policy. The team also provides placemaking and design guidance on built form and open space projects to create safe, vibrant and welcoming places.

You will be responsible for undertaking research, preparing advice and assisting the team on a wide range of career-building, city-shaping projects.

What we're looking for 

• Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or similar discipline
• Excellent research and analytical skills and attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge of planning legislation and practice
• Demonstrated interest in urban design and placemaking
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Local Government knowledge or experience (Desirable) 
• Visual communication skills with a proficiency MS PowerPoint, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and SketchUp (Desirable) 
• Class 1A/C driver’s licence (Desirable)

Salary Range: $68,893 to $82,263 per annum + $1,000 pa transport allowances + 11.5% superannuation 

35 hours per week with access to flexi time
