ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Cumberland City Council is proud to offer a Traineeship with our Engineering and Building team which offers a combination of on-the-job work experience combined with the completion of a nationally recognised qualification, Certificate III in Business Administration, through TAFE or a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
The Trainee - Business Administration role will provide generalist support and administrative assistance to the broader Engineering and Building team, and Council.
The successful applicant will require:
- Completed Higher School Certificate and/or demonstrated experience enabling the completion of tertiary study
- Demonstrated ability to deal in a positive and courteous manner with the public and other workers
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Possess administrative and organisational skills, including attention to detail, ability to maintain accurate records and skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work as part of a team with good interpersonal skills.

About this role:
- 1 x term contract, full-time position for a period of up to two (2) years
- 35 hour week, working from 8:30am to 4:30pm
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
- Located at Council's Auburn Administration Office, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- This position is placed in Cumberland's Trainee Salary Structure with a salary range of $639.97 to $882.66 per week, dependent upon the level of school achieved, and 11.5% superannuation
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants must be able to work and study in Australia to be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship. Please note that Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) Visa Subclass 482 does not allow the holder to study in Australia.
