Burwood Council is seeking a proactive and creative Media and Communications Officer to support our media and communications efforts by promoting the Burwood Local Government Area (LGA) through event coverage, social media content creation, and day-to-day communications tasks. This hands-on role will involve working flexibly across digital platforms to engage the community, while providing real-time coverage of Council events and activities.
You will have experience creating content for digital platforms, including social media posts, photography, and basic video editing.
Strong writing skills, the ability to draft media releases and event summaries, and solid interpersonal skills are key to this role as well as the ability to work flexibly outside regular business hours to attend Council events when required.
You’ll have the opportunity to be part of exciting Council events and activities, contributing to meaningful community engagement and helping to shape Burwood’s public image.

Key Requirements:
- A degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related discipline
- A current C Class Driver Licence
- COVID-19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
- Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment
