About the Role

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Governance Officer to join the Governance section of our team based at North Ryde. This section provides the organisation with Council’s Governance Framework including delegations, policies, procedures and a wide variety of other Governance related tasks. It should be noted that this role is distinct from Council’s Civic Support function which provides services to the elected Council such as Council meeting preparation (agendas and minutes), Councillor support and liaison.

 

Your day to day work will include but not be limited to:

 

  • Developing, maintaining and monitoring Council’s Governance framework
  • Reviewing existing Governance frameworks including delegations, policies and procedures, regulatory compliance systems, and ensuring these are effectively communicated and implemented across the organisation
  • Engaging in project related work in key Governance areas as Council develops our frameworks and supporting systems
  • Liaising with external bodies such as the Office of Local Government in relation to Corporate Governance matters impacting the organisation.

 

Your commencing annual salary will range up to $150,228.00 + superannuation, dependent on your experience and qualifications.

 

Key requirements

  • Tertiary Qualifications in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience
  • Deliver a high standard of governance services, policy reform, or project management.
  • Administer legislation, governance policies, procedures, and maintain essential registers and corporate delegations.
  • Provide expert advice and support on governance matters, ensuring organisational compliance and best practices.
  • Build and sustain effective internal and relationships through excellent verbal and written communication, consulting with stakeholders at all levels.
