North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 71,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. The role
The Financial Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring the organisation's financial health by overseeing the preparation and management of financial statements, grants accounting, restricted reserves, and periodical budgeting. This role requires a strong understanding of financial processes, compliance standards, and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks simultaneously to support the organisation’s overall financial stability and sustainability.
Key responsibilities will include:
Grants Accounting: Track grant revenues, expenditures, and ensure compliance with agreements and prepare timely reports for grantors and monitor budgets for proper fund usage.
Projects Accounting: Manage project budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Track project expenses and provide insights into financial performance.
Restricted Reserves Accounting: Manage restricted reserves, ensuring funds comply with donor restrictions and prepare monthly reports for tracking restricted funds.
Budgeting and Financial Analysis: Oversee budget preparation, forecasts, and monitor expenditure. Conduct financial analysis to inform decision-making and support audits.
Financial Accounting: Perform account reconciliations and ensure compliance with accounting standards. Support audits and assist in preparing accurate financial statements.

Salary Range: $87,273 to $104,209 per annum + $1,000 pa Transport allowance + 11.5% superannuation
