About the opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, talented and visionary leader to join us as the Chief Financial Officer on a permanent, full-time basis.
As Chief Financial Officer, you will:
- take a strategic approach to the financial sustainability and operational financial management of the organisation
- develop smart, sustainable budgets and drive cost-effective solutions
- work alongside senior leaders to shape economic and infrastructure growth
- leverage technology to modernise financial systems and reporting
- ensure compliance while finding innovative funding solutions
- build and mentor a high-performing finance team
- engage with the community and stakeholders to promote financial transparency.
The ideal candidate
We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking professional with ambition to drive financial innovation and strategic decision making.
You will lead a diverse team and operate in a creative, dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
You will have more than 10 years’ experience in financial management positions with demonstrated experience in financial management and in achieving change based on robust financial analysis and business partnering.
You will also have demonstrated success in business development that helps drive strategic direction and priorities.
You will be someone with inspirational people leadership, who is results orientated and has a strong commitment to an engaged organisation culture.
Qualifications and experience
Essential:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (CPA/CA) with extensive relevant experience
- The ability to develop and implement a vision for the pro-active and positive development of Council’s Finance section
- Demonstrated commitment to stakeholder and customer service
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership and management skills
- Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes within agreed timelines, while balancing competing priorities and stakeholder needs
- Sound business acumen
- Current class C driver's licence
- Clearance of National Police Check.
Desirable:
- An in depth understanding of local government accountability and legislation
- Availability to work flexible hours.
Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in line with our Managerial Staff Agreement.
