About the role

Bayside Council has a vibrant and diverse community with over half our population speaking a language other than English at home. We are looking for a community development professional with experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities to join an energetic and cohesive team.

This role is responsible for working in partnership with Bayside’s multicultural community to develop programs and activities that are socially inclusive and community oriented.

You can also expect to:

  • Work with colleagues across Council to deliver culturally appropriate programs.
  • Create partnerships with local and regional community groups and organisations, state and federal government agencies and inter agencies to undertake the development of relevant and timely services, programs, and events for members of the culturally and linguistically diverse community.
  • Develop a good understanding of the profile of the local community including available social and strategic planning material and policy and use this to identify appropriate directions.
  • Develop strong links with relevant service / funding bodies and be an advocate for the community to ensure their needs are represented.
  • Provide advice across Council on issues specific to culturally and linguistically diverse communities to assist with planning, service improvement and decision making.

About you

We are looking for a someone who has:

  • Tertiary of other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Current Drivers Licence Class C
  • Working with Children Check
  • Fluency in a language other than English (desirable)
