An exciting opportunity exists for someone to join Inverell Shire Council as a Trainee Building Certifier.

Inverell Shire Council is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Development Services team to assist in ensuring that buildings and construction in Inverell comply with the relevant building legislation, regulations and standards.

This diverse position focuses on providing assistance to Council's Building Certifiers while undertaking studies that will lead to accreditation as a Building Certifier.

Essential

Qualifications

  • NSW School Certificate/Record of School Achievement or equivalent.
  • Capacity to enter into and complete an Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying.
  • NSW Class C Drivers Licence.
  • SafeWork NSW General Construction Induction card (‘White Card’), or the ability to obtain one.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience using a range of computer software packages including word processing, excel and data bases;
  • High degree of interpersonal skills including experience in managing difficult situations and negotiating outcomes;
  • Understanding of and demonstrated capacity to deliver good customer service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety issues as they relate to the position; and
  • strong written and verbal communication skills.

 Desirable

  • Industry related experience and knowledge;
  • Knowledge of Local Government issues and operations;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the local community.

Employment will be in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Local Government (State) Award 2023.  The classification for the position will be up to Operational Band 1, Level 1, T6 to T10.  Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience, and will be in a range from $993.20 to $1,194.60 gross per week.
