About the role

This position is a permanent full time role in the Development and Compliance team and based at the Moruya Administration Office. As a Ranger, you will play a key role in regulating and controlling activities in public areas in accordance with the relevant Acts, regulations and Council policies. Duties include:

  • Investigating matters of law enforcement and other areas including: parking; litter control; illegal dumping; companion animals; derelict vehicles/articles; overgrown premises and illegal uses of Councils property/assets.
  • Responding to all relevant complaints, service requests and instruction, including: allegations of land clearing; environmental issues; pollution events; water sampling; field inspections; signposting and other related matters.
  • Providing community advice, education, guidance and enforcement in the above matters.
  • Enforcing compliance with relevant legislation, local plans and procedures. 

About you

Our ideal candidate will have knowledge of relevant legislation and outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to make clear, accurate judgements in challenging situations. You will have a can-do attitude, strong investigative skills and the ability to produce successful outcomes when working with a broad range of stakeholders and members of the community. A successful application should further demonstrate the following:

  • Experience working within a regulatory framework and knowledge of enforcement and compliance strategies within relevant legislation.
  • Ability to ensure compliance, including analysing of issues and effective interactions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team and work independently.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Salary Information

Total remuneration for the role is in the range $2,762.97 to $3,415.13 gross per fortnight consisting of:

  • $2,478.00 to $3,062.90 base salary
  • $284.97 to $352.23 superannuation (at 11.5%)

When required by Council, participation in an on call roster is part of this position. An allowance is paid when on call.

A fully maintained Council vehicle for to/from home use is available with this position.

 Appointment to this position is subject to the following:

  • A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check.
  • Medical clearance to verify that you are safely able to undertake the duties of the position.
