The Opportunity

As a Customer Service Officer at the City of Perth Library, you will be the first point of contact for our library, playing a key role in delivering exceptional service to the public.
With a friendly and welcoming approach, you’ll answer general and library-related enquiries, assist with payments, and use your initiative to guide patrons of all backgrounds and skill levels in navigating the library’s services, online resources, collections, and programs.

Every day brings something new as you create positive experiences, ensuring everyone has access to the resources they need.

Reporting to the Team Leader Library Operations within our City Culture team, your responsibilities would primarily include:

  • Assisting patrons from diverse backgrounds with enquiries and directions related to the Library and the City of Perth;
  • Processing memberships and providing assistance;
  • Processing payments for meeting room hire, damaged items, photocopying, events and merchandise; and
  • Carrying out daily processes and procedures related to library operations.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will possess:

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience providing customer service in person, over the phone and via email
  • High level of computer literacy skills
  • Experience in taking payments and cash handling
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Completed Year 12 or equivalent

You must be able to work a rotating roster and cover day and afternoon shifts, including weekends.

Eligibility

To be eligible to work for us, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Fitness for work via a pre-employment medical;
  • A Working with Children’s Check, or eligible to obtain;
  • A satisfactory National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months).
