About the Opportunity
Parkes Shire Council is seeking to recruit casual employees to join their dynamic Tourism and Visitor Information Services Team.

Then look no further - put your well developed skills to good use in the role of Casual Visitor Services Assistant within the Economy, Destination and Activation section at Council.
The role will service visitor needs at the Henry Parkes Centre (including the Parkes Visitor Information Centre). The role includes weekends, public holidays, covering permanent staff on leave and to provide additional resources during peak tourism periods and major events. This role will operate on a rotating roster system. Responsibilities will include customer service including provision of information (phone, email and face to face), coordinating merchandise and ticket sales using Point of Sale software and EFTPOS, merchandising, maintenance of stock, computer work, recording visitor data, coordinating ticket sales, maintaining the retail space and brochure displays and general administrative support as directed. 
The position holder requires excellent customer service, communication, administration, organisational and time management skills to provide a high level of service to the Shire's visitors while ensuring appropriate levels of professionalism and discretion to uphold Council's values and policies.
The ideal candidate will have at least 12 months relevant work experience with excellent communication skills and a thorough knowledge of the local tourism product. Council is looking for a confident and motivated individual with effective time management skills, solid computer skills and experience in dealing with the public.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Certificate II in Business Administration, Tourism or a related field
- A minimum of 12 months previous and relevant work experience
- Knowledge of the local tourism product
- Well developed customer service skills with the ability to communicate in a tactful, professional, courteous and efficient manner
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience detailing with the public
