About the role

As Risk and WHS Coordination you will be reporting to the Risk, WHS & Audit Manager (the Manager), this position provides specialist support developing, implementing and monitoring Council’s enterprise risk with a significant focus on Work Health and Safety (WHS) frameworks that monitor and evaluate Council’s exposure to risk and assist with associated functions and programs.
The position coordinates a specialist team which provides Directorate and Service Unit focused risk management support and which also ensures the effective and proactive service delivery of WHS services throughout Council and supports public safety consistent with WHS legislation and using a practical continuous improvement approach.
This role operates under the leadership of the Manager and prepares reports to senior leadership, the Executive and forums such as the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC). The position also works closely with the Manager and other internal service areas in liaising with Council’s appointed legal providers in respect of legal proceedings and insurance provider over safety related claims against Council.

Remuneration

$125,672.04 - $136,652.88 + 11.5% Superannuation 

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications 

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated WHS and risk senior specialist experience in a diverse operational service delivery focussed organisation
2. Significant experience leading and delivering safety leadership advice and expert support to resolve problems or investigate and respond to business continuity matters or serious incidents, where several complex alternatives need to be addressed
3. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective workplace relationships and stakeholder management through advanced communication skills and approachable style with a passion for risk management, safety improvement and customer service
4. Demonstrated project management skills, including a proven track record of systems/process improvement and delivery
