Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement and Contracts Partner to join the Financial Management team, based in Hurstville.
About The Role
As the Procurement and Contracts Partner you will be responsible for proactively and positively partnering with Council’s internal stakeholders to meet the strategic and operational procurement needs of the Council. The position is responsible for achieving the Council’s procurement sourcing and contract activities across the whole of council, for all external spend.
We’re looking for someone who has a relevant qualification and demonstrated experience in procurement and contracts governance. You are someone who has demonstrated ability to function with minimal supervision and effective time management skills with the ability to organise own work and to establish priorities and meet performance requirements. You are also someone who is committed to providing great service to both internal and external stakeholders.
What We Offer
- One Permanent, full-time role - 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $87,770.80- $101,695.64 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate

The successful candidate will have
- Degree or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Mgt., Contract & Project Management or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to act as a trusted advisor and partner to gain cooperation and assistance and liaise with a range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated skills in following and guiding others in procurement and contracts governance policy and procedures plus supporting documentation review, development and implementation
- Experience in the conduct of sourcing and tenders or other procurement processes, from the development of specification, evaluation, assessment through to: awarding, debriefing, contract finalisation and monitoring
- Demonstrated experience in being a trusted partner across functions to support your internal stakeholder groups
- Demonstrated strategic experience and foresight with the ability to identify, articulate and deliver the value/relevance of procurement
- Extensive experience in purchasing, tendering and contract management
- Demonstrated experience in applying high level competitive tendering practices, probity standards and governance processes to procurement that drive transparency and deliver cost savings
- Demonstrated experience in providing strategic advice on procurement to deliver best in class outcomes for CAPEX projects and OPEX contracts
- Demonstrated experience in implementing contract management frameworks with key stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and implement workplace change through improved work practices with a focus on marketplace competitive provision of services
- High levels of computer literacy, including experience in the use of procurement software and the ability to train/coach others as a Partner in the use of Council systems
- Demonstrated ability to identify and drive continuous improvement and cost reduction strategies with stakeholder’s support and involvement
- High level analytical skills, with a proven ability to identify key performance metrics, analyse data, report insights all that deliver significant outcomes to the Council and Community
Desirable
- Experience in Local Government or statutory authority context
- Experience in project management methodologies, TechOne, TRIM, Excel
- Procurement membership such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply)
