Forbes Shire, home to a population of approximately 10,000 and growing, is situated in the heart of the Lachlan Valley, and is regarded as one of the richest primary producing areas in New South Wales. Forbes Shire is ideally located at the junction of the Lachlan River and Newell Highway and has a diverse economy ranging from irrigated land holdings, dairy operations, dry-land farming and manufacturing to strong retail, education and health sectors, which combine with a dynamic and growing tourism market.

With unprecedented grant funding and an ambitious capital works program, both current and emerging, a great opportunity exists for a highly motivated, experienced and proven senior manager for the position of Director Projects at Forbes Shire Council.

You will be responsible for planning, leading and managing the delivery of the Council’s major projects ensuring that these are delivered to the highest possible standard and meet Council’s strategic, operational and budget requirements.

To be successful in this role you will have five year’s plus experience managing complex projects, ideally within local government or a similar environment. You will have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget while effectively managing stakeholders, resources, and risks. Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced, evolving landscape will be essential for success in this role. An essential part of this role and Council’s future is the grant funding portfolio across capital projects and community grants. Scoping, quantity surveying and strategy is essential.

Tertiary Qualifications (Masters or Bachelor Degree) in Project Management, Civil Engineering, structural Engineering or similar discipline is essential.

You must have proven strategic thinking skills, planning and organisational skills, knowledge of best practice project management, contract management, procurement, quality assurance, risk management and financial management skills as well as a strong track record of delivering results.
