We are seeking an experienced Gang Supervisor to lead and motivate a team dedicated to the maintenance and upkeep of Transport for NSW State Road (Waterfall Way) and Council’s local road network.  This role is essential in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our roads for the community.

The Opportunity

Bellingen Shire Council has an exciting Capital Works delivery program that will be delivered in the coming years.

In the next few years, Council is spending over $20M on its Bridge Renewal Program replacing over 30 bridges, a further $20M on roads as well as delivering Special Projects including the upgrade of key infrastructure in Connell Park and replacing the iconic Urunga Boardwalk.

Reporting to the Works Supervisor Roads, this role is responsible for coordinating and leading a team to complete infrastructure projects and maintenance works on the local road network and state road (Waterfall Way), while meeting Council’s and TfNSW requirements and specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a General Construction Induction (White Card), Current Traffic Controller’s Certificate (Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control Plans – Prepare a Work Zone Traffic Management Plan is desirable) and Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) or related discipline (desirable) and demonstrated experience in supervisory skills to lead, direct and motivate a team of council employees and subcontracts, experience with plant, processes and materials used for Civil Construction and maintenance, and experience in responding to incidents of natural disasters.

To succeed in the role, you will have good computer, literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to work under pressure and able to meet deadlines. You will have the ability to prioritise tasks and schedule works so they are completed safely, to appropriate standards and within timeframes and budget.  You will be keen to foster and build on the positive and safe workplace culture within the team and importantly, you will promote a positive image of Council and its activities.

Annual salary of $60,312 to $69,656 (plus super).
