Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Library Assistant to join our Cultural Engagement & Library Services team, based in Penshurst.

 This role is primarily based at Penshurst Library and will involve other locations as required. 

 

About the Role

 

The Library Assistant role is to support the services and programs of the Library service by providing effective and efficient operation across the Council's libraries ensuring the strategic objectives of the organisation are achieved. 

 

In this role, you will provide directional and basic information services and to assist customers in locating desired materials, perform Loans Desk duties and assist in a wide variety of programs and events across the library service.

 

 What we Offer

  • Permanent, Full time - 70 hours per fortnight 
  • Full time salary from $60,079.84 - $69,609.92 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

The successful candidate will have

  •  Current Class C Driver’s Licence – required for Library Assistant Support Services.
  • High level of interpersonal and customer service skills and experience
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated high level computer literacy skills
  • Experience working with diverse target groups
  • Experience working in a library using an automated Library Management System

 

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in Library and Information Studies or equivalent
  • Experience in Event Support
