- Salary: $64,100 - $74,620 pro rata p.a. plus 11.5% Super

About the role
This is a permanent, part time role working 4 consecutive days, totalling 28 hours per week with the ability to work 1 day from home. Located at Council's Nowra Administration Building, this role is responsible for liaising with stakeholders to review and handle formal and informal GIPA applications, CCTV requests, customer requests, subpoenas and document orders, ensuring any release aligns with Council's obligations under legislation.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
Duties
Reporting directly to the Governance Coordinator, the focus of this position is to:

- Responsibility and authority to process Government Information (Public Access) GIPA applications,
- Receive, process and determine applications made under the NSW Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 with specific reference to:
- Act as Councils decision maker in determining GIPA applications.
- Conduct file and document searches.
- Research files, records and other information using knowledge and research skills to retrieve information
- Collate relevant statistics for publication in Council’s Annual Report.
- Ensure Council complies with the requirements of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act (PPIPA) and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act (HRIPA) in terms of:
- Develop and implement systems, policies and procedures to ensure protection of personal information (including use, disclosure, storage and destruction)
- Process and determine requests for suppression of personal details from Public Registers.
- Provide specialist advice to staff and external customers.

Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will possess:

- Relevant formal qualifications in Information/Records Management or equivalent or demonstrated experience in an Information and Privacy Officer type role.
- Class C Driver’s Licence
- Proof of Australian residency or citizenship, or authority to work in Australia (visa)
