Full Time - 70 hours per fortnight

  • Salary within the range of $93,132 to $102,798 - negotiable plus a 3.5% Civil Liability Allowance and superannuation

At Federation Council our focus is on delivering quality services to our community and our main priority is to maintain and improve our water supply, sewerage and flood protection services. Our Utilities team play a key role in achieving this goal and have been formally recognised for the progressive direction they have taken to improve water and sewerage practices.

The opportunity

In this role you have an opportunity to be involved in our program to maintain and improve our water and sewerage services and systems including being involved in the planning of the renewal and construction of water and sewer treatment plants. You will also be responsible for providing technical advice and support to the activities of the Utilities Unit, including; Capital Works, Maintenance Works, Strategic Planning, Contractor Management, Project Management, Government Department Liaison and Reporting.

Key criteria to be addressed in the application:

  1. Hold a Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  2. Proven extensive experience in the water and sewer industry.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of water and sewerage reticulation/mains, pumping stations, reservoirs and treatment plant construction and operation practices, and chemical dosing systems
  4. Proven excellent and practical knowledge of WHS requirements including the ability to proactively manage risk and WHS requirements within area or responsibility.
  5. Proven ability to solve problems through analytic reasoning and interrogation of a wide range of information.
  6. Proven ability in designing and delivering projects, programs and services in accordance with agreed standards, timeframe and budget.
  7. Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills including solid conflict resolution, negotiation and presentation skills.

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Council’s policies and conditions of employment.  The salary is commencing at $1,791.00 per week with progression up to $1,976.90 per week, plus civil liability allowance, dependent upon skills and experience. Salary may be negotiable for the right candidate.
