About the role

Bathurst Regional Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced casual Animal Attendant to assist in operations at the Bathurst Animal Rehoming Centre.

You will hold a Certificate II in Animal Care and be motivated to maintain high standards of animal welfare. Animal Attendants are required to undertake duties such as cleaning and disinfection of kennels/condos, and care and exercise of impounded animals.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high standard of customer service, assisting customers both in person and on the telephone in the release or adoption of animals.

This is a casual role and candidates must be available to work on weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis.

Key Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role, particularly focusing on care of dogs and cats
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Experience in handling aggressive or dangerous dogs will be highly regarded

This position requires a pre employment health assessment which includes a functional, audio and drug and alcohol screen.

Salary: $38.01 per hour + superannuation + Adverse 2 allowance

Position Status:  Casual

Hours of work: Typical start time on weekdays is 8:00am, on weekends/public holidays 6:30am. Length of shift varies.
