Job/Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant this position is responsible for supporting the management of all aspects of Council’s financial accounting systems and functions to ensure both integrity to the General ledger and legislative compliance. This includes:

  • Support the administration of Council’s financial accounting systems to ensure financial data is accurate, reconciled, and kept up to date, and the timely lodgement of Council’s statutory reports and compliance obligations.
  • Contribute to all month-end and the end-of-year processes including the reconciliation of all applicable ledger accounts, and that where possible any discrepancies are promptly resolved
  • Assist with the calculation and processing of year-end accruals and journals, and the preparation of the Annual Financial Statements respectively, including all necessary schedules and statutory returns in readiness for the end-of-year audit.
  • Assist in reviewing the accounting officers’ reconciliations and returns.
  • Support in  the management of Council’s Grants Register to ensure the timely receipt of all available grant funds, and the compliance with funding obligations and cash flow implications.

  • Contribute to the provision of financial analysis and/or assessment of financial scenarios for specific ad hoc projects where required.
