About the Role
Council's Health & Regulatory Services section are seeking applications from suitably experienced compliance and/or regulatory professionals to join the team in the position of Compliance Officer - RID.
Reporting to the Compliance Team Leader, the successful applicant will be gain exposure to a variety of compliance matters including building and construction sites that present with inadequate and non-complying erosion and sediment controls.
The position will also drive the implementation of key actions as part of Council’s Illegal Dumping Strategy and investigating complaints received by Council in relation to non-compliance issues within the Wollondilly Local Government area.
No two days will be the same!
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate their competency for the position by meeting the following essential criteria:
- Experience in Compliance activities including illegal dumping on private and public land.
- Experience in the monitoring of building sites, particularly in relation to erosion and sediment controls.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation and Council Policies, in particular the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1991, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and the Local Government Act 1993.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of legal evidence, notices, orders and directions.
- Ability to plan, prioritise, think and solve problems on a day-to-day basis.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team with a focus on personal safety and the safety of others.
- A current and valid Working with Children Check clearance and ability to obtain a Police Check Clearance.
- Current Class C driver’s licence.
