 Are you a creative and community-minded library technician with interest in emerging technologies and a passion for developing and delivering accessible and engaging workshops? Join our dynamic and innovative Programs Team at Georges River Council as a Library Officer Programs in a role focused on collaborating with our panel of expert Learning Experience Facilitators to offer inventive library programs and workshops that activate our Media Lab, Sound Booth, and related special collections. 

Our Media Lab programming is developed to meet community lifelong learning needs and are delivered in collaboration with a panel of expert Learning Experience Facilitators and local organisations that specialise in creative, audio and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) fields.

We are looking for a motivated programs officer who demonstrates excellent customer service, attention to detail and a community-minded approach to programming.

This role is primarily based at Clive James Library, Kogarah, and will involve other locations as required. 

What We Offer

  • Permanent Full-time - 70 hours per fortnight
  • Salary range: $73,331.53- $84,965.51 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependent on the skills, qualifications, and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

Key Accountabilities

  • Undertake rostered duties at all Georges River Libraries to meet customer expectation
  • Provide support and instructional training to staff and customers in the use of library software, self-service kiosks, public computers, photocopiers and printers
  • Deliver and promote library and information services that meet the diverse needs and interests of the community encouraging the development of literacy, creativity and lifelong learning
  • Plan, develop, promote and deliver library and information services, programs and events that reflect and enhance the informational, cultural, recreational and educational needs of the local community
  • Maintain awareness of current trends, issues and new technologies to ensure services and programs remain relevant to the target audience
  • Deliver targeted community outreach to key priority groups as determined by the Outreach Program promoting library services to the broader community
  • Contribute to the promotion of programs, services and events through in-house publications, the web, and other promotional opportunities; implement the Library's style guide; liaise with Council's Media Unit

What We Are Looking For

  • TAFE Diploma qualification in Library and Information Science and/or equivalent library experience
  • Demonstrated experience in library and information services
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing, promoting, delivering effective and relevant library services, programs and events to a diverse community encouraging literacy, creativity, and lifelong learning                                                           
  • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication including summarising data, preparing reports and providing training
  • High level customer focused approach to service delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment

 

Desirable

  • Demonstrated interest and experience in the application of technology for the delivery of high-level library services
  • Certificate IV in training
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence
  • Working with children check
