We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Property Officer to join our Corporate Governance team, reporting to the Coordinator Property & Legal. This senior role is responsible for overseeing the team within Council who conducts statutory acquisitions and disposals of land. You are also responsible for implementing addressing systems (including house numbering and road naming), managing Council’s residential properties, conducting road status investigations, classifying Council-owned land, preparing leases and licences. The position also involves conducting statutory actions and road-related dealings, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. About the role:

  • Statutory acquisitions and disposals of land.
  • Oversee addressing systems, including house numbering and road naming.
  • Manage Council’s residential properties.
  • Classify Council-owned land.
  • Prepare and administer leases and licences.
  • Conduct statutory actions and road-related dealings, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

We are seeking:

  • Tertiary qualifications in property, law, valuation, land economics, commerce, project management, or extensive government property industry experience.
  • Experience in the government property sector, including managing property leases and asset portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of legal documents such as contracts, leases, licences, land titles, and subdivision processes.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Experience in property acquisition and disposal, including compulsory acquisitions and statutory property transactions.
  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills, with the ability to resolve land title issues and anomalies.

Where it's located:

This position is based in Murwillumbah, and can be directed to work from any Council work site.
