The Waste Services team manages the ongoing successful delivery of Council’s waste collection service, ensuring Cumberland City is kept clean and safe, environmental outcomes are achieved and residents benefit from a high quality service.
In contributing to the overarching vision, the Operations Worker (Driver) – Waste Services will enable Council’s Waste Service Team to provide a high quality service, supporting the implementation of Council’s service standards and assisting the Supervisor City Waste to deliver the requirements of Council’s Community, Delivery and Operations Plans through servicing street and park bins, commercial waste bins and collecting illegally dumped rubbish.
The successful applicant will require:
- Hold a current class HR drivers licence
- Demonstrated ability to operate waste service plant and equipment in a safe and efficient
manner - Demonstrated experience and knowledge of waste service operations
- Ability to work as a team, follow direction and work with minimum supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Have and maintain a level of physical fitness sufficient to undertake all activities related to waste collection within the City

About these roles:
- Two (2) permanent, full-time position
- 35 hour week with scheduled overtime on weekends and public holidays
- Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement
- Located at Council's Auburn and Guildford Depots with frequent travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $ $1,121.69 to $1,289.95 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
What you'll need to have for this role:
- The right to live and work in Australia
- Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
- Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required
- Provide evidence of your vaccination status as part of the employment screening process, in accordance with Council’s COVID-19 Vaccination Procedure.
