Are you a technically skilled IT professional looking to take your career to the next level? Warrumbungle Shire Council is seeking a motivated IT Support Specialist to provide hands-on, in-house and remote support to our diverse team. This is not your typical helpdesk role—this is an opportunity to work under the guidance of a Senior IT Support Specialist, gain hands-on experience, and have a real impact on the Council's IT infrastructure and user support systems. You’ll be at the forefront of solving technical challenges, supporting critical infrastructure, and ensuring smooth operations across Council’s IT systems. You’ll work closely with end-users to resolve issues, assist in troubleshooting, perform routine maintenance, and play a key role in supporting both hardware and software systems.
As an IT Support Specialist, your role will involve a wide range of responsibilities, including troubleshooting technical issues, performing regular maintenance on user devices, and assisting with system upgrades. You’ll collaborate with external vendors for issue resolution and help manage the Council’s IT infrastructure, including servers and networking hardware. You’ll also play an essential role in ensuring the security and compliance of our IT systems and will provide after-hours support on a rotating roster.
We’re looking for someone with at least 1-2 years of experience in IT support, ideally with exposure to both end-user and infrastructure support. A foundational knowledge of Microsoft environments, endpoint security, and basic networking is key. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well both independently and within a team are essential. Relevant IT certifications, such as CompTIA A+ or MCSA, would be beneficial, but not required. If you’re passionate about IT and looking for an opportunity to develop your career, we encourage you to apply.
