The Role

As the Head of Fleet and Administration Services you will support the entire City Operational Services department with the resourcing to facilitate the delivery of maintenance services to the Community. Incorporating fleet maintenance, stores and procurement functions and administrative support, this unit delivers timely responses to meet unplanned operational requirements in addition to managing scheduled programs.

The Head of Fleet and Administration Services is a senior leadership position within the City Operational Services section and demonstrates agile, authentic and performance driven leadership with their team and the entire City Operational Services section. 

This role is based in Mortdale and includes the below responsibilities:

  • Oversee fleet, administration, and stores, ensuring efficient operations and high standards of customer service
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and programs for fleet, stores, and operational procurement
  • Oversee replacement programs, certification of statutory requirements, and internal hire rates for Council’s assets
  • Supervise daily operations, delegate tasks, manage people resources, and ensure safety and compliance with WHS requirements
  • Assist in developing financial policies, monitor costs, and ensure programs are delivered within budget
  • Liaise with stakeholders, prepare reports and policies, and maintain regular operational and financial reporting

  • Full time salary from $123,891.39 - $143,546.89 per annum plus 11.5% superannuation (dependent on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

What We Are Looking For

  • Tertiary qualifications in Management, Business or demonstrated relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic fleet management and fleet asset management
  • Current ‘C’ Class NSW Driver’s license
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an internal service and operational team with a focus on achieving customer satisfaction
  • Solid understanding of fleet/operational procurement and workshop operations
  • Demonstrated experience in managing local government assets, specifically passenger fleet and heavy plant
  • An understanding of risk allocation and the management of Work Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Demonstrated ability to manage resources and promote a team environment to achieve team, and broader business objectives 
  • Understanding of asset management systems and technology
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor management  
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and preparing documents including reports, policies, briefs, specifications, budgets, tenders and grant applications
  • Solid experience with forward works programming, financial control and budget preparation
  • Excellent communication skills along with superior negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of and commitment to WHS practices and EEO principles
