About the opportunity

We are seeking 6 x Team Leader Greenspace Maintenance to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a fast-paced role responsible for the maintenance of Council's formal garden and landscape areas with a focus on beautification of Council's premier open space areas. You will be involved in the continuing improvement of the horticultural amenity of our public open space and assist with the development and training of Apprentices.

We are seeking highly motivated and appropriately qualified and skilled persons to lead a small team to undertake the maintenance and landscape improvement works of Council's public open space areas. You will be leading the Maintenance crews in the servicing and maintenance our premier passive open space area to ensure a high-level, quality horticultural service is performed and the landscape finish remains safe, attractive and inviting to use to our park visitors. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Horticulture with solid working experience in open space operations
  • Chemical application accreditation
  • Current MR Driver’s Licence
  • Experience supervising small teams
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Availability to work rostered overtime as required. 

Desirable:

  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Traffic controller accreditation
  • Chainsaw operation certificate of competency. 

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $,1,361.20 per week
  • 38-hour working week
  • Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
