About the Opportunity

Working within the Infrastructure - Environment team, the Irrigation Technical Officer is responsible for developing strategic plans for the replacement and upgrade of Council’s irrigation infrastructure within parks and road reserves.

Working with the Manager of Sustainability and the Operations Supervisor, the Irrigation Technical Officer is responsible for the leadership and management of a range of programs and services that contribute to the delivery of City Of Palmerston Community Plan including:

  • Maintenance of irrigation asset databases
  • Capital works management
  • Contractor management
  • Sustainable and strategic project delivery

About You

We are looking for someone who ideally has the following:

  • Extensive experience in irrigation infrastructure maintenance, irrigation infrastructure installation, operation of irrigation telemetry systems and operation of commercial irrigation systems.
  • Certificate IV qualification in irrigation, or an equivalent relevant area (desirable).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of landscape maintenance practices and minor infrastructure maintenance.
  • High level time management, analytical and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing contracts, budget management and program development.
  • Demonstrated competency in computer systems, including the Microsoft Office Suite, cloud-based telemetry systems and ArcGIS.
  • Current C Class NT Driver’s License (MR desirable).
