About the Team 

As part of our dedicated and innovative Community & Culture Directorate, the Events and Sponsorship team are responsible for planning, organising, delivering and evaluating community, civic and cultural events that reflect community aspirations, promote cultural development and develop valuable partnerships.

About the Opportunity 

The role is primarily responsible for all Council major events which include but are not limited to:

  • Event coordination for Council-led events.
  • Oversee the management of community-led events.
  • The management of event budgets as directed within allocated resources.
  • In consultation with Head of Events and Sponsorship, assist with the maintenance of sponsor relationships and delivery of agreed benefits.
  • Respond to enquiries in relation to events.
  • Support and resource Departments of Council in the implementation of agreed events and activities, which promote Council services and initiatives and enhance Council’s image within the community. 

The successful candidate will support the Head of Events and Sponsorship in promoting the Council as an effective, efficient and courteous organisation and in the provision of support and advice to the Mayor, Councillors, General Manager and Council staff in the department’s areas of activities.

What we're looking for

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications 

  • Tertiary education in Events Management or demonstrated experience in event management.
  • NSW Class C vehicle driver's licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • The ability to work as an effective team member and with community organisations.
  • High level administrative and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple of tasks and meet competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of events for community capacity and partnership building.
  • A high level of computer literacy and ability to use a range of computer software packages, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with people from diverse backgrounds.

Other Desirable Attributes 

  • Basic understanding of Local Government procedures and protocol requirements and arrangements
  • Experience in working with community organisations.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and expectations of the local community, fostering inclusivity and engagement
  • Knowledge of relevant policies, legislation, and safety regulations with running events.

 Physical Requirements

  • Capacity to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays.
  • Must be capable of maintaining a prolonged standing or walking posture throughout the day.
  • Needs sufficient mobility to negotiate stairs and ramps, and to move over surfaces that can be slippery and uneven.
