ADD VALUE - THE ROLE
Playing an integral role in the Library Programs team, the Early Literacy Programs Officer is primarily responsible for delivering core children’s and youth library services and developing innovative outreach services and library & learning programs to the children and youth of the Singleton Local Government Area. Key aspects of the Eary Literacy Programs Officer role include;
- Planning, implementing and evaluating a range of programmes for children and youth, which meet the specific demographics of the local area.
- Planning and conducting regular early literacy programs, e.g. story time and Babies into Books sessions, and training library staff to participate in rostered delivery.
- Liaise with relevant partners to develop value added programs and community building initiatives.
- Planning, implementing and evaluating a school holiday program with a focus on literature based and cultural activities.
We are seeking a qualified Library Technician, eligible for ALIA membership, with experience working in a public library with children, youth or outreach services, and knowledge of children's library resources including noted authors / illustrators and experience in judging age-appropriate resources. Experience using computer applications and relevant technology including STEM resources, databases, email and word processing will be essential for this role.
This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.
Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 8 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $68,133 - $76,641 per annum plus superannuation.
