Your Position:
This role involves dealing with face to face, email, web chat and call centre telephone enquiries, providing advice on the full range of Council matters including town planning, building surveying, rates, environment and health, municipal engineering, traffic and law enforcement and instigating referrals to other business areas as appropriate.
Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Delivering high-quality customer service daily through face-to-face, phone, webchat, and email channels
- Providing paraprofessional advice on local government services including planning, building, waste, engineering, rates, traffic, law enforcement, and environmental health
- Managing enquiries, complaints, and service requests by clarifying customer needs and delivering accurate, helpful, and fair responses
- Assisting with administrative duties such as issuing parking permits, handling basic law enforcement matters, and processing Development Applications via the NSW Planning Portal
- Processing and receipting payments and ensuring accurate daily cash balancing
- Ensuring a welcoming and accessible reception area, with attention to inclusivity and support for customers from diverse backgrounds
- Using Council systems such as the Customer Request System and Content Manager to record and follow up on enquiries
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and capacity to operate effectively in a high volume work environment
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice and quality customer service regarding specialised technical matters
- Exceptional communication skills
- Conflict resolution expertise and ability to deal with difficult customers
- Experience collecting, receipting and balancing monies
- Proficiency with computer applications
Key Requirements:
- COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
- Willingness to complete a National Police History Check
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment (Where applicable)
- Current Driver's Licence
- Local Government working experience an advantage
