About the Role
We are seeking an experience Environmental Health Officer or Senior Environmental Health Officer to join the team. This role evaluates, investigates, researches, documents & reports on environmental & public health issues as an authorised officer under relevant legislation. The successful candidate will also be responsible for promoting, monitoring & implementing community environmental & public health standards to ensure compliance to relevant legislation within the shire.
What you will be doing:
- Act as an authorised officer under the Local Government Act and all relevant environmental and public health legislation;
- Undertake routine food premises inspections and all other relevant environmental and public health inspections and take regulatory action as required;
- Investigate, assess, research, document & resolve customer requests lodged in regard to environmental & public health issues and take regulatory action as required;
- Assess development applications and provide comments on environmental and public health matters;
- Assess & process applications under the Local Government Act S68 for onsite sewage management systems and any other relevant applications;
- Provide specialist assessment of technical reports & documents – acoustic reports, site contamination and any other relevant reports relating to environmental and public health;
- Prepare statements of evidence, affidavits and participate in Court matters including being an expert witness as required (Senior EHO).
- Mentor & assist Environmental Health Officers within the team (Senior EHO).
What are we seeking in our new team member:
- Bachelor’s Degree Environmental Health/Science or similar relevant qualifications
- Hold qualifications that enable authorisation by Council under the Local Government Act, Public Health Act, Food Act & Protection of the Environment Operations Act and all relevant legislation
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
