About the Opportunity

This is a compelling opportunity for a Civil Engineer with Roads Infrastructure experience to join a proactive, future-focused team responsible for the planning, delivery, and management of road assets across the Moree Plains Shire. This role supports the Asset Manager (Road Infrastructure) in ensuring the successful implementation of Council’s Road Infrastructure Asset Management Plan​.

The position offers exposure to a variety of technical, operational, and strategic duties including asset management, condition inspections, traffic management planning, and community consultation. The successful candidate will also assist in compliance with ISO55000 Asset Management standards and champion best practices across the team​.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the daily operations of road infrastructure works and contractors
  • Conduct defect, risk, and pavement condition inspections
  • Prepare renewal and rehabilitation programmes for road pavements
  • Assist in the development of traffic control plans and basic road pavement designs
  • Manage reporting and compliance tasks in accordance with Council and legislative standards
  • Engage with the community and internal stakeholders to provide expert technical advice
  • Mentor team members and promote a collaborative, customer-focused workplace culture
  • Support the development and maintenance of Council’s GIS and Asset Management systems

About You

The ideal candidate is a driven, team-oriented individual with a strong background in civil engineering and roads infrastructure. You are comfortable working independently, skilled at building stakeholder relationships, and capable of navigating local government environments.

Essential Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience in civil engineering/project management for road infrastructure
  • Proficiency in CAD, GIS, and asset management systems
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and report-writing capabilities
  • White Card and current Class C driver’s licence
  • Traffic Controller Certificate – Traffic Controller (TCR) & Implement Traffic Control Plans (IMP)

Desirable Criteria

  • Local Government experience
  • Expertise in engineering surveying and environmental compliance
  • Ability to develop new systems and procedures
